Do You Watch ‘Lost’?

Posted by Daria on Feb 3, 2010 in My Ramblings, NaBloPoMo February |

I tried.

I would row with them, too!

I really did.  My husband and I wanted to give it a shot and we rented the first season on DVD, sometime around the third season.   We even  made a day of it!  We got the blankets out into the living room.  Mind you, we were in a studio apartment at the time…  But still…   We got blankets and pillows in the ‘area by the sofa.’  There were snacks.  There were sodas.  Phones were kept out of reach.  It was also nice that Sawyer was HAWT (and if I had those tendencies, the Irish chick is too….), and I have always loved that Fox guy from Party of Five.

We watched the first couple of episodes without judgement.  The plane crash, the introductions, the blah…

It just stopped making sense.  Seriously.. what was with the fog?

Yes, I know – that is the point behind the show.  It makes no sense.  They are on an island – they leave the island – they go back.  I think.

It was a show that I probably would have enjoyed, had I sat through hour after hour, and then gone and listened to the radio shows talk about it.  It was just way more work than I wanted to do for a television show.  I am sure it would have had Top priority on my DVDR recordings, should I have had some sort of opportunity to win big money!  Hell..  I would have been understanding if there was a crumb of storyline to follow!  But I guess I missed it somewhere along those lines.

Today, I say, “Give me a cheesy episode of “Big Bang Theory” or  ”The Office” – something that I understand, and can follow.”   I’m good with that!   After a day of working, I really don’t want to consult flow charts and spreadsheets to see who is the bad guy this week, and who had their soul redeemed by a polar bear.

Anyway… This is my celebratory post for those “Lost” fans who watched tonight, and will continue to do so throughout the season, surrounded by other fans, computers and open minds – waiting for the writers to feed them their menial scraps to tie up a loose end or two  (because the writers don’t know anything until it’s written – which I think is AWESOME!).  I do hope that this, the last season, is everything that the previous 5 seasons has led up to – and more.

I actually mean that.  I do!  I have to give my kudos to the viewing audience.  I’m not sure if it was my attention span, my intelligence, or my husband that kept me from continuing to watch, but I do wish that I had stuck with the show.  Will I go back and watch it?  Probably not.   At least not in the very near future.  But if I hear great things about this 6th season – that may change.

Do the Lost fans out there – Have a great season!

To those of us who do not watch – please try not to smack the Lost fans…  I work with a few.  I know how they can get, and it’s not pretty.

What are your thoughts?  Have you watched the show from the beginning?  Do you have ‘watching parties’ now?  What are your predictions for the end of the series?

If only that warning not to smack them had come earlier. Damn

I don’t watch it :) I just don’t have the time, like you said. I want to relax in front of the tv, not spend all night trying to figure out who did what, and who to like this week, etc. Also, the last show I know of where the writers weren’t sure of what came next until it was written was Twin Peaks, another show that started off good and just got weird and confusing.

My husband and I tried to watch it and we made it about 3/4 of the way through the first season. I’m a smart girl – seriously – and I dislike being confused. Especially when something seems to be made confusing only so someone can feel superior about it. I disliked the writers and the games they were playing, and that was my opinion. My sister watches it and was sure to RSVP to the Facebook reminder that the final season was starting. I mocked her; she made a rude comment about my intelligence. It was over.

I can’t do Lost either. I can’t handle shows that require you to see every episode. Too much pressure. Maybe I’m a bit OCD. I used to watch Grey’s Anatomy but felt guilty if I missed a week. I didn’t feel I was worthy to watch the current episode without finishing my homework the previous week. Maybe LOST is so confusing so that you aren’t any more mixed up whether you watch em all or only watch every 3rd episode in reverse.

Ugh. I don’t get it, but yes the people are pretty. Maybe if we watch it on mute.

My son and his wife like it. When I visited them my son taped and showed me a review of all the shows so far. I liked it fine. Then I came home and forgot to watch the continuing shows and I got ‘lost’ about the whole thing.
